My First Post as a Third Grade Teacher
It seems like such a daunting task to figure out what to write for my very first third grade frog cafe post.
I mean ... should I write about my excitement about teaching third grade. Or maybe I should write about the trepidation I am feeling about delving in much deeper in teaching reading comprehension or long division later in the school year. I'm not even sure yet what I need to cover in Social Studies and Science but I do know that when I look at standards this summer I'm going to need to be thinking about how to get the students to understand at a deeper level than what I covered teaching in first grade.
I could write about my classroom economy and how I plan on buffing it up for third grade, or maybe what I've learned about whole brain teaching this past year ... I could spend some time writing my thoughts on using the Daily 5 in the classroom or how I differentiate both language arts and math instruction. How about my thoughts on teaching reconciliation to a group of children from many different walks of life ... from immigrants newly arrived from the Congo or refugees from Burundi and Burma to fatherless children from the inner city and children from two parent families both African American and Caucasian ... children who have been adopted as babies all the way up to 8 years old and others who are still in foster care? I could write about what its like to teach kids to live and walk in God's kingdom ... or how I organize my classroom.
I think I'll probably end up writing about all of these things as well as plenty more topics. Hopefully I can share some ideas and freebies with you all along the way!
